Frequently Asked Questions
NWA Extras are documents that are stored in an electronic database in our computer system. Depending on the type of NWA Extras that a customer has received, it may be valid for one of the following items: a specific dollar value toward the purchase of an airline ticket (or) a complementary ticket (or) an upgrade (or) a percent off a fare (or) dollars off a fare.
2. Should I keep the E-mail and/or certificate that I received from Northwest?
Yes, please keep it. It has important information on it including the 13-digit NWA Extras document number and 9-digit Redemption Code that must be used when redeeming your voucher.
3. How can I redeem NWA Extras?
You can redeem your voucher on nwa.com or by phone with Northwest Airlines Reservations. Travel Agents may redeem certain NWA Extras documents if stated with the document’s redemption instructions.
4. Can I view my NWA Extras vouchers online at nwa.com?
Yes. If they were issued to your SkyMiles Account, you can log in with your SkyMiles number, Last name & PIN and view all documents that were issued to your account on nwa.com. If they were not issued to a SkyMiles account, you may view them on nwa.com by entering the NWA Extras voucher number & Redemption Code provided to you. If your NWA Extras voucher was issued as a Biz Perks award, you can view it by displaying your Biz Perks statement.
5. I have a paper document that I received previously from Northwest. Can I turn that in for an NWA Extras voucher?
Paper documents may not be converted to NWA Extras.
6. How long is an NWA Extras Voucher valid?
Travel must commence by the expiration date on the NWA Extras voucher. The expiration date is listed on the e-mail and/or certificate that was provided to you. Travel must be completed within one year of the redemption date or within the validity of the applicable fare rule used, whichever is most restrictive.
7. Are NWA Extras refundable?
No, NWA Extras are not refundable.
8. Is there a residual value if I don't use the entire NWA Extras voucher?
NWA Extras that were issued for a specific dollar value (only where the document begins with 012 0911), will retain any residual value if the entire voucher is not used. Other Other NWA Extras do not have any residual value if the entire voucher is not used.
After expiration date, whether or not an NWA Extras voucher has been used in part, it will have no residual value.
9. I have several NWA Extras vouchers. Can I combine them to purchase one ticket?
NWA Extras vouchers may not be combined with each other. However, NWA Extras vouchers that were issued for a specific dollar value (document begins with 012 0911) may be combined with an Electronic Credit Voucher that was issued for a reduction in fare or combined with a Gift Certificate. To apply more than one of these toward a ticket, please contact Northwest Airlines Reservations.
10. Can I give my NWA Extras Voucher to someone else to use?
Some NWA Extras vouchers are transferable.
If a passenger name was supplied when the document was created, then it is non-transferable. However, someone else may use one of your NWA Extras as long as that person is booked in the same reservation as you, the recipient of the NWA Extras.
If a passenger name was not supplied when the document was created, then it is transferable per the Terms and Conditions of the voucher.
Please note, except for NWA Extras that were issued for a specific dollar value (document begins with 012 0911), NWA Extras may only be entered once per reservation and cannot be applied toward the purchase of more than one ticket within a reservation.
11. What if I lose my NWA Extras document number or Redemption Code? Can Northwest locate it for me?
If the NWA Extras voucher was created in your name, you may contact Northwest Airlines and request a search for your NWA Extras document number. Northwest will make every effort to locate it. However, Northwest cannot guarantee that it can locate misplaced NWA Extras document numbers.
If the NWA Extras voucher was not created in your name, you must contact the person/organization that gave you the NWA Extras document to request a search.
You should always retain your NWA Extras voucher number and Redemption Code for future use.
12. Why is Northwest issuing NWA Extras as electronic documents?
Electronic documents are easier to use than paper documents. There is no need to mail it in or present it to a Northwest ticket counter to redeem. A customer can redeem NWA Extras through nwa.com Reservations or by contacting Northwest Airlines Reservations.
13. How can I view the Terms & Conditions and Redemption Instructions for NWA Extras vouchers?
The Terms & Conditions and Redemption Instructions were provided with the NWA Extras document number and redemption code when it was issued.
You can view the Terms & Conditions and Redemption Instructions for a specific NWA Extras document on nwa.com after the document is displayed.
